Play-Based Learning
Play helps nourish every aspect of children's development. Play develops that foundation of intellectual social, physical, and emotional skills necessary for success in school and in life. It paves the way for learning. -(Canadian Council on Learning, 2006, p.2).
When children are fully engaged in their play, their activity and learning are integrated across developmental domains. They seek out challenges that can be accomplished.
Through play children learn trust, empathy, and social skills. -(Pascal, 2009, pp. 8-9).
Kindergarten & School Aged Children
With kindergarten and school aged children I will still offer a play-based environment, but I will also incorporate the work they are currently doing in school and bringing home for homework.
